Under direction of the Group Leader, responsible for the performance of organic analysis for the determination of xenobiotic residues in biological specimens
Responsible for participating in the update and development of analytical procedures, quality control procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Responsible for the care and maintenance of laboratory equipment
Train laboratory assistants and graduate students in the performance of their laboratory duties

Qualifications include:
-Bachelor's degree in animal science, pharmacology, biology, biochemistry or an equivalent combination of education and comparable experience

-Knowledge of analytical chemistry and skills to critically understand, interpret, and perform techniques and procedures for analysis of biological samples as described in the Standard Operating Procedures

-Experience in the operation of a wide range of computer-controlled analytical equipment including liquid chromatography with an ion trap mass analyzer using Xcalibur software

-Experience in sample preparation techniques such as liquid-liquid and solid phase extraction, sample fortification, and matrix matching

-Skills to maintain and operate analytical instrumentation and obtain maximum performance from equipment

-Skills to prepare analytical reagents, solutions, controls and standards

-Computer skills including data entry, spreadsheets, e-mail, database

-Skills to provide training in analytical techniques and laboratory procedures

-Knowledge to appropriately handle/dispose of hazardous materials

-Knowledge and skills to conduct statistical analysis and perform mathematical calculations

-Skills using knowledge of QA/QC to continuously produce high quality data

-Skills to operate laboratory and computer equipment
